Developing a product to sell in a farm shop

This guide accompanies the Welsh Baccalaureate Enterprise and Employability Challenge developed by LEAF Education. Producing locally grown and reared food is important for many reasons - to support farmers, to boost the rural economy, and as part of our culture. There is growing interest in buying local food through farmers' markets, farm shops and small high street shops, and people are often willing to pay a bit more for food that comes with a story. Can you see a gap in the market? The guide covers developing ideas, through visiting farm shops and talking to farmers, through to trialling your product and marketing it. It also encourages pupils to see their work in the context of developing the food sector in Wales.
